Full-size versions offer soft, medium, and strong gauges, allowing players to select different tension levels and tonal characteristics.

For musicians choosing a replacement steel A string, gauge selection provides a practical way to adjust an instrument's response. Soft favors a warmer sound, medium balances brightness with warmth, and strong adds brightness and volume relative to medium. These choices suit players refining their setup for solo repertoire, ensemble rehearsals, or everyday practice.

The construction supports controlled bowing across quiet and loud dynamics, along with stable tuning and prompt playability after installation. Pirastro also specifies suitability for electric and electrically amplified cellos. Consider the complete setup when selecting tension: changing one string's gauge can influence the sound of the other three strings.

Key Features

Steel Monofilament Core: Uses a single high-tensile steel filament for responsive bowing.

Chrome Steel Winding: Supports tonal brilliance with a warm foundation.

Three Full-Size Gauges: Offers distinct tonal and tension choices.

Dynamic Control: Supports articulation from soft passages to forceful playing.

Tuning Stability: Helps maintain consistent pitch during use.

Ball-End Attachment: Provides the specified tailpiece connection across the listed variants.

Gauge Differences

Soft (Weich), 4/4: Warmer than medium; lowest full-size tension at 37 lb.
