The Roland JC-40 is a 40-watt stereo combo amplifier that carries on the legendary Jazz Chorus tradition with a modern, gig-ready feature set. Two custom 10-inch (25 cm) speakers deliver the iconic JC clean tone with true stereo imaging, while the evolved onboard effects — Dimensional Space Chorus (with fixed and manual modes), stereo Vibrato, Reverb, and Distortion — cover the full range of tone-shaping that made the JC-120 a classic. Stereo inputs make it an ideal front-end for amp modelers and stereo pedalboards.
The effects loop supports both series and parallel operation, making it compatible with any guitar signal chain. Three independent footswitch jacks — for Chorus/Vibrato, Reverb, and Distortion respectively — allow hands-free control of each effect independently using optional BOSS FS-5L, FS-6, or FS-7 footswitches. A Bright switch adds high-frequency sparkle, while Volume, Treble, Middle, Bass, Distortion, Reverb, Speed, and Depth knobs provide comprehensive tonal control in a clean, accessible layout.
Line Out jacks (L/MONO + R, 1/4-inch) enable direct connection to a mixing console or recording interface, while the stereo 1/4-inch TRS headphone jack allows silent practice. The JC-40 consumes only 43 watts at full power, despite its 40-watt output — a testament to its efficient design. At 15.8 kg and 592 mm wide, it balances capability with portability for working guitarists.
