Pirastro 1OBG Oliv Double Bass G String, 4/4 Medium

Pirastro Oliv Double Bass G String, 4/4 Medium

The Pirastro Oliv Double Bass G String combines a sheep-gut core with chrome steel winding in a medium-gauge orchestral string. This single-string listing uses the distributor's 4/4 size designation. Hand manufacturing, winding, and polishing define its construction, while a ball end provides the tailpiece attachment for compatible double bass hardware.

For bassists choosing a gut core replacement string, the Oliv G supports both arco, or bowed playing, and pizzicato, or plucked playing. It offers a single-note replacement for musicians maintaining an existing setup or selecting strings individually. Players seeking an orchestral bass G string receive the medium specification associated with manufacturer article number 241100.

The natural gut center and metal wrapping give buyers a clearly specified construction to match against their current string. Pirastro identifies this article as 3/4 in its catalog, while the linked distributor labels it 4/4. Confirm the required vibrating string length, the distance between bridge and nut, before fitting it to your instrument. The manufacturer recommends Bass mittel rosin for this range.
