Description
Transcriptionists who live in their playback software need control that never takes their hands off the keyboard. The RS31H is a professional four-pedal foot switch with an extra-wide center pedal, giving dedicated feet for play, rewind, fast-forward and a fourth assignable function in Olympus and OM dictation software such as ODMS and DSS Player Pro.
It runs in two modes. Olympus mode works out of the box with Olympus applications, while Keyboard mode, set up with the free Foot Switch Configuration Tool, lets each pedal send keyboard shortcuts so the switch can drive third-party transcription and media programs on Windows and Mac. The pedal connects through its 8-pin mini DIN plug and the supplied USB adapter cable.
A broad, heavy base of about 770 g keeps it planted under the desk through long shifts, and the 214 x 144 mm footprint gives plenty of room to rest a foot between commands. It is a direct replacement for worn pedals on existing Olympus transcription stations as well as a step up for typists who want a fourth programmable function beyond the usual play, rewind and fast-forward.
