Elgato Game Capture 4K X is the brand's most powerful USB capture card, using HDMI 2.1 to capture and pass through gameplay at up to 4K144 with ultra-low-latency VRR passthrough. It serves streamers and creators working across PlayStation 5/Pro, Xbox Series X, Switch and Switch 2, Steam Deck, ROG Ally, PC, Mac, and even iPhone, streaming through apps such as OBS, Streamlabs Desktop, vMix, and Meld Studio.
HDMI 2.1 bandwidth enables modes like 4K120 and 1080p240, HDR10 brings deeper colors and darker shadows (HDR capture currently Windows-only), and variable refresh rate eliminates ghosting, stuttering, and tearing. A USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface carries full capture resolution, while Elgato Capture software adds unlimited watermark-free recording, flashback recording, separate commentary tracks, Smart Folder organization, and AAF export for editing in Adobe Premiere or Vegas Pro.
