Product Overview
Steinberg Retrologue is a highly flexible virtual analog synthesizer designed to deliver classic subtractive synthesis power with modern sound-shaping depth. Built around a versatile oscillator and filter architecture, it’s ideal for crafting punchy basses, crisp leads, warm polys, sweeping pads, and expressive synth textures in music production and sound design.
At the core are three multi-mode oscillators plus a dedicated sub oscillator and noise generator, giving you a broad palette that ranges from traditional waveforms to more complex tones. With oscillator modes that extend into sync, cross modulation, and multi-waveforms—and the ability for one oscillator to combine up to eight detunable oscillator signals—you can quickly build rich, wide, and animated sounds that stay musical and controllable.
Retrologue also includes a modulation matrix for deep routing, an integrated arpeggiator and step sequencer for rhythmic movement, and a built-in effects section for polishing sounds inside the instrument. For advanced workflows, you can feed external signals via a side-chain function and apply Retrologue’s processing and effects to those sources.
