It boasts an extended low-frequency response, pronounced midrange, and silky top end, along with a quick transient response, high SPL handling, and minimal self-noise. Utilized in stereo, the TF17 offers a rich and precise sound stage. With a pair of matched TF17 microphones, it excels for recording drums, percussion, piano, as well as vocal or brass ensembles. Each microphone includes a K47-style center-terminated capsule, precise through-hole components, and a custom hand-tuned JFET amplifier. These capsules and amplifiers are meticulously matched for frequency, gain, and noise. Every TF17 Stereo Set is meticulously assembled, matched, and tested in the USA.

The fixed cardioid TF17 showcases an extended low-frequency response, prominent midrange, and natural high-end, making it suitable for vocals, drums, bass, electric guitar, brass, and piano. Its high SPL handling expands its utility to louder sources not always compatible with condenser mics. The TF17's warm tonality can add depth or a smooth complementary touch to harsh or thin sound sources. When used on vocals, it provides a mix-ready sound by introducing depth and focus without muddiness. For midrange-heavy sources like electric guitar and brass, the TF17 enhances weight and clarity. Premium through-hole components include UK-made polystyrene film capacitors, Nichicon Fine Gold electrolytic capacitors, and a high-performance JFET for ultra-low noise.

Dressed in a black powder coat with black nickel hardware, the TF17 maintains the same form factor as the TF11. Its compact size, combined with the absence of an external power supply and proprietary cable found in tube mics, makes it incredibly easy to set up, dismantle, and transport – ideal for home recording and touring. The microphone includes a protective case, dust cover, and two mounting options. Whether capturing bedroom vocals, live grand pianos, or studio guitar amps, the TF17 consistently delivers exceptional results.
