The Thypoch Simera-C 16mm T1.9 is the widest lens in Thypoch's compact full-frame cinema prime series, pairing a dramatic 106-degree diagonal field of view with a fast T1.9 aperture in a barrel that measures just 79.3mm long in Sony E mount and 69.6mm in Leica M. It is built around an advanced optical formula of 15 elements in 11 groups - including aspherical, low-dispersion, and high-refractive-index glass - resolving up to 85 lp/mm at center and covering a 43.2mm image circle, so it feeds full-frame, Super 35, and APS-C sensors alike with clean edge-to-edge detail. Near-zero distortion and virtually zero focus breathing make this ultra-wide cine prime a natural fit for architectural cinematography, landscape sequences, documentary work, and fast-moving action where the camera never stops finding new geometry in the frame.
Simera-C blends the design legacy of classic rangefinder optics with modern cinema engineering. A 16-blade rounded iris keeps out-of-focus highlights circular and free of onion-ring artifacts at every stop, while the optical design pulls minimum focus in to just 0.16m / 6.3 inches, closer than most rehoused or modified rangefinder glass. Multi-layer anti-reflective coatings and an anodized matte-black internal finish hold reflectivity low, suppressing flare and ghosting so backlit scenes retain accurate color, deep contrast, and honest shadow detail alongside the lens's creamy bokeh and natural edge fall-off.
Crafted from anodized aluminum alloy, the Simera-C 16mm weighs only 467g / 1.03 lb in Leica M mount and 490g / 1.08 lb in Sony E mount. Standard 0.8 MOD focus and iris gears and a generous 210-degree focus throw give follow-focus systems and wireless motors plenty to work with, and the ultra-compact barrel makes this one of the few cinema primes that rides comfortably on handheld rigs, gimbals, and drones. A 67mm front diameter and M62 x 0.75 filter thread stay consistent across the Simera-C set for fast lens swaps behind a matte box, and native Sony E and Leica M mount options let the lens drop straight onto mirrorless cinema bodies or adapt freely to other systems - one manual-focus wide-angle cine lens that travels everywhere.
