Description
Wittner Ultra 15.5"-16" Viola Tailpiece, Rosewood-Look Plastic
The Wittner Ultra Viola Tailpiece for 15.5-inch and 16-inch instruments combines a rosewood-look plastic composite body with four integrated fine tuners. Each string has a separate screw control for pitch adjustment. A nylon tailgut, the attachment that anchors the tailpiece, connects the assembly to the instrument's lower mounting point.
Violists and repair specialists can select this fitting when planning a viola tailpiece replacement with a traditional wood-colored appearance. The integrated adjusters provide individual string controls within one assembly. For a viola tailpiece with fine tuners, assess instrument size and the existing mounting arrangement together. This rosewood-look option suits players seeking composite tuning hardware for the specified instrument sizes.
Wittner manufactures the Ultra in Germany and describes its body as composite rather than solid wood. The rosewood color identifies the appearance, while black adjustment screws provide the tuning controls. A luthier, a specialist who builds and repairs string instruments, can assess tailgut length and tailpiece clearance. Correct installation considers the bridge, attachment position, and surrounding fittings as part of the complete viola setup.
