Warm Audio JUDE-MP Mono Microphone Preamp

Sound Techniques consoles recorded some of the most-loved British albums of the late 1960s and 1970s, and the Warm Audio JUDE-MP brings that A-Range preamp circuit to the desktop as a single channel. A dual-discrete 3035 Class A amplifier, custom CineMag transformers and a hand-wired signal path deliver the weight and openness of the original console, with 65 to 76 dB of gain on tap for anything from ribbon mics to quiet vocalists.

The nine-position Z-Match control is the feature that sets the JUDE-MP apart. By changing how the microphone loads the input stage, it alters gain, transient response, frequency balance and headroom, so one dynamic can go from polite to punchy with a twist of the knob. Microphone, balanced line and front-panel instrument inputs are supported, and 48V phantom power, polarity inversion, a line-level switch and stepped gain make the channel ready for tracking vocals, acoustic instruments, guitar, bass, keys and drums.

Nichicon and Wima audio-grade capacitors, carbon resistors, a three-impedance CineMag input transformer and a high-purity nickel CineMag output transformer sit inside an aluminum-fronted steel chassis, with an analog VU meter showing the level leaving the preamp. Balanced XLR and 1/4" TRS outputs connect to any interface, converter or patchbay.
