Description
The Warm Audio WA-DBjr-OD Dirty Boy Jr. Overdrive is a compact all-analog overdrive, preamp, and amp simulator built around the acclaimed Dirty Boy Preamp circuit. Created in official collaboration with Dirty Boy Pedals founder Danny Gomez, it runs on his proprietary T.A.E. (Tube Amp Emulation) technology, delivering the touch-sensitive response, harmonic richness, and dynamic cleanup of a vintage tube amplifier without requiring a traditional amp in the signal path.
What sets this pedal apart from a conventional overdrive is the Variac control. Borrowed from the practice of starving a vintage amp of voltage, it dials in progressive sag, compression, and voltage-starved fuzz textures, letting a single pedal move from transparent boost and edge-of-breakup shimmer through to thick, saturated drive. Gain, Tone, and Volume round out the panel, so the Dirty Boy Jr. Overdrive works equally well as an always-on tube-style boost, a dirt box in front of a clean amp, or a complete amp-in-a-box.
Two separate outputs make it genuinely rig-agnostic. The speaker-emulated line output is voiced after a closed-back 4x12 "Greenback" cabinet for plugging straight into a mixer, audio interface, front-of-house system, or FRFR speaker, while the instrument-level preamp output integrates seamlessly with traditional amplifiers and effects loops, which makes this a strong choice for silent recording, direct live rigs, and fly dates. Housed in a rugged grey metal enclosure with authentic Dirty Boy styling and true bypass switching, every unit is hand-tested by Warm Audio technicians in Austin, Texas.
