AlphaTheta HDJ-F9 SonicLink Wireless DJ Headphones

The AlphaTheta HDJ-F9 Wireless DJ Headphones are professional closed-back, on-ear headphones featuring SonicLink ultra-low-latency wireless technology, Bluetooth 5.3, and 1.6-inch dynamic drivers. Designed for professional DJ monitoring, they deliver wireless audio with latency as low as 9 milliseconds while supporting traditional wired connections for flexible performance setups.

Built for club DJs, touring performers, scratch DJs, and electronic music producers, the HDJ-F9 combines accurate monitoring with the freedom of wireless operation. SonicLink technology enables responsive cueing and beatmatching without a headphone cable, while touch pairing simplifies connections to compatible DJ equipment. Newly developed drivers with PEEK-PU-PEEK composite diaphragms reproduce defined bass, clear midrange, and detailed high frequencies. Bass-reflex chambers enhance low-frequency response, making kick drums and basslines easier to distinguish during mixing. The closed-back, on-ear construction provides passive sound isolation for monitoring in loud performance environments.

The HDJ-F9 offers three listening options: SonicLink wireless, Bluetooth wireless, and wired audio. A flexible silicone headband, swivel-mounted earcups, and die-cast aluminum adjustment mechanism accommodate different DJ monitoring styles. Bluetooth multipoint connectivity supports two connected devices, while the HEADPHONES CONNECT app provides customizable status lighting and headphone management. With up to 9 hours of SonicLink playback or 25 hours of Bluetooth listening, the headphones support extended performances and everyday use.

Key Features

SonicLink Wireless Technology for Professional DJ Monitoring

The HDJ-F9 incorporates AlphaTheta's SonicLink wireless audio technology, developed to address the timing requirements of professional DJ performance. Unlike conventional Bluetooth connections, SonicLink provides audio transmission with latency as low as 9 milliseconds.

This reduced delay helps DJs accurately monitor incoming tracks, align beats, and execute scratching techniques without the timing disruption commonly associated with standard Bluetooth audio transmission.

The integrated SonicLink receiver operates in the 2.4 GHz frequency band and supports wireless communication at distances of approximately 49.2 feet in unobstructed conditions.

SonicLink Touch Pairing

Touch pairing simplifies the connection process between the headphones and compatible AlphaTheta equipment. When used with a supported DJ mixer, such as the DJM-V5 running the appropriate firmware, users can establish a SonicLink connection by bringing the headphones into contact with the designated pairing area.

For DJ mixers and other audio equipment without integrated SonicLink transmission, the separately available AlphaTheta HP-TX01 transmitter provides an additional connection option.

The HP-TX01 is an optional accessory and is not included with the HDJ-F9 headphones.

1.6-Inch Dynamic Drivers with PEEK-PU-PEEK Diaphragms

The AlphaTheta HDJ-F9 features newly developed 1.6-inch dynamic drivers designed for accurate monitoring across the frequency spectrum.

Each driver incorporates a PEEK-PU-PEEK composite diaphragm that combines different materials to control unwanted vibration. This construction helps maintain defined midrange and high-frequency reproduction while supporting detailed sound monitoring.

The headphones provide a specified frequency response of 5 Hz to 30 kHz, a 32-ohm impedance, and a sensitivity rating of 106 dB.

Bass-Reflex Chamber for Defined Low Frequencies

An integrated bass-reflex chamber positioned near the top of each earcup housing reinforces low-frequency reproduction.

This acoustic design helps reproduce the transient attack of kick drums and the tonal characteristics of basslines, providing useful information when matching beats or monitoring low-frequency transitions.

The combination of dynamic drivers and acoustic chamber construction makes the HDJ-F9 suitable for electronic music, dance music, and professional DJ monitoring applications.

Closed-Back On-Ear Design with Passive Sound Isolation

The HDJ-F9 uses a closed-back, supra-aural design, meaning the ear cushions rest against the ears rather than surrounding them completely.

Its optimized housing structure and cushioned ear pads help reduce the amount of surrounding noise reaching the listener. This passive sound isolation is particularly useful when monitoring tracks inside loud DJ booths.

The design allows performers to hear important elements of their music without relying entirely on increased headphone volume to overcome surrounding sound.

Polyurethane ear cushions with a leather-style finish provide a comfortable contact surface, while the flexible silicone headband accommodates movement during performances.

Bluetooth 5.3 with Multipoint Connectivity

In addition to SonicLink, the HDJ-F9 supports Bluetooth 5.3 for music listening, track preparation, and communication with compatible mobile devices and computers.

Bluetooth multipoint functionality allows the headphones to maintain connections with two compatible devices simultaneously. Users can move between audio sources without repeatedly disconnecting and pairing the headphones.

Supported audio codecs include SBC and AAC, while Bluetooth profiles include A2DP, AVRCP, HSP, and HFP.

Google Fast Pair and Windows Swift Pair provide simplified Bluetooth pairing with compatible Android and Windows devices.

Built-In Microphone for Hands-Free Communication

An integrated omnidirectional electret condenser microphone enables hands-free calling when the headphones are connected to compatible devices.

The microphone operates across a specified frequency range of 100 Hz to 4 kHz and supports communication through compatible Bluetooth calling profiles.

Professional Comfort and Durable Construction

The HDJ-F9 is designed to accommodate the different ways professional DJs wear headphones during performances.

Swivel-mounted earcup assemblies allow users to monitor with both ears, listen through a single earcup, or position the headphones around their neck or shoulders between tracks.

The flexible silicone headband helps maintain a comfortable fit while allowing freedom of movement during energetic performances.

An adjustable die-cast aluminum slider provides structural support in an area frequently subjected to repeated adjustment and handling.

AlphaTheta has subjected the headphones to international durability testing to evaluate their suitability for professional use.

Rechargeable Battery with Extended Playback Time

The HDJ-F9 incorporates a rechargeable lithium polymer battery that supports extended wireless listening sessions.

In SonicLink mode, the headphones provide approximately 9 hours of playback with the status LED disabled or 7 hours with the LED illuminated.

Bluetooth operation extends the available listening time to approximately 25 hours with the LED disabled or 13 hours when illuminated.

A full battery charge takes approximately 2.5 hours under the manufacturer's specified conditions. A 30-minute charge provides approximately 2.5 hours of SonicLink playback.

Actual operating time varies depending on volume, wireless connection conditions, and other usage factors.

HEADPHONES CONNECT App and Customizable LED Lighting

The HDJ-F9 supports the dedicated AlphaTheta HEADPHONES CONNECT application for personalized headphone management.

Through the app, users can adjust the color and brightness of the headphones' status LED, rename the device, and configure automatic power-off settings.

Additional features include voice assistant control settings, firmware updates, and a headphone location function that can trigger an audible sound to help locate the device.

The application also supports headphone management and troubleshooting functions. Feature availability depends on the supported mobile operating system and application version.

Secure Wired Monitoring with Locking Audio Cable

The HDJ-F9 includes a detachable coiled audio cable for conventional wired monitoring when wireless operation is unnecessary or unavailable.

The cable measures approximately 3.9 feet in its coiled configuration and extends to approximately 9.8 feet, providing flexibility around DJ mixers and performance equipment.

A bayonet-style locking connection secures the cable to the headphones and helps prevent accidental disconnection during use.

The included cable terminates in a 1/8-inch stereo mini plug and features an L-shaped connector. A screw-type 1/4-inch stereo adapter provides compatibility with professional DJ mixers and other equipment equipped with standard headphone outputs.
