Audio-Technica ATR6550x is a condenser shotgun microphone designed for camera-mounted audio capture in video production environments. It enables focused sound pickup for filmmakers, videographers, and content creators working at varying distances. This makes it suitable for on-camera recording where directional control is critical.The microphone features selectable Wide and Far pickup modes to adapt to different recording distances. In Wide mode it operates as a cardioid microphone for close and medium-range sources, while Far mode narrows the pickup pattern to supercardioid for distant sound capture. A body-mounted switch allows quick adjustment between modes.
A permanently attached cable connects directly to a camera’s 3.5 mm microphone input for simple integration. Included mounting and wind protection accessories support stable placement and outdoor recording. Battery-powered operation allows use without external power sources.
