The BOSS GK5-KIT-G6/G7 divided pickup installation kit permanently integrates the GK-5 Serial GK system into a steel-string electric guitar. Choose the GK5-KIT-G6 for six-string instruments or GK5-KIT-G7 for seven-string guitars; both include the divided pickup, internal electronics, expanded controls, connector hardware, and wiring required for professional installation.

Built for guitarists using compatible BOSS synthesizer and V-Guitar equipment, the system works alongside the instrument's existing active or passive pickups. A three-way toggle selects the regular guitar signal, GK signal, or a blend of both, while the S1/S2 momentary switch and GK knob provide assignable fingertip control from the instrument itself.

Both variants use the BOSS Serial GK digital interface for stable transmission and can also drive compatible legacy 13-pin GK products through an optional GKC-DA converter. Installation requires modification of the guitar and is intended for a qualified repair technician or luthier. Power is supplied by the connected Serial GK device, so no separate battery is required for the kit.

GK, Guitar, and Mixed Signal Operation

The supplied three-way toggle integrates the divided pickup with the guitar's conventional pickup system. Players can select the normal guitar sound, the GK processing path, or a combined signal. Dedicated wiring supports instruments equipped with either passive pickups or battery-powered active electronics.

Expanded Fingertip Control

The S1/S2 momentary switch provides two assignable commands for compatible processors. The GK volume control offers continuous adjustment of volume or another supported parameter, and the included LED provides a visual indication when the installed GK system is receiving power.

Professional Installation and Pickup Placement

Installation requires modification of the guitar and should be completed by an experienced repair technician or luthier. BOSS specifies positioning the divided pickup near the bridge, with each guitar string aligned over its corresponding pickup element.
