The BOSS ODB-3 Bass OverDrive Pedal is a compact bass-specific overdrive that blends the clean instrument signal with driven tone through a dedicated Balance control. A two-band EQ, Gain, and Level controls let bassists shape aggressive distortion while retaining low-frequency definition for rock, punk, metal, rehearsal, recording, and live performance.

Designed specifically for electric bass, the ODB-3 gives players more control than a basic single-tone overdrive. The Balance knob mixes the unaffected bass signal with the processed sound, making it possible to add grit while maintaining fundamental low-end presence. Separate High and Low EQ controls help tailor attack, brightness, body, and weight for different instruments, amplifiers, and playing styles.

The pedal uses buffered bypass, which maintains an active signal path when the effect is disengaged, and provides standard 1/4-inch input and output connections for straightforward pedalboard integration. It operates from a 9V carbon-zinc or alkaline battery or an optional BOSS PSA-series AC adapter. The CHECK indicator also provides battery-status monitoring during use.
