Description
BOSS RE-2 Space Echo Tape Delay and Reverb Effects Pedal
The BOSS RE-2 Space Echo Tape Delay and Reverb Effects Pedal recreates the character and behavior of the Roland RE-201 Space Echo in a compact stompbox. It combines an emulated three-head tape system, 11 echo configurations, stereo spring reverb, adjustable wow and flutter, tap tempo, and delay times reaching two seconds in Long mode.
Built for guitarists, bassists, producers, and pedalboard-based rigs, the RE-2 covers single echoes, rhythmic multi-head patterns, ambient reverb, and self-oscillating textures. Players can manipulate repeats with the Twist function, preserve effect trails with Carryover, or use an external footswitch for dedicated tap-tempo and performance control. True stereo inputs and outputs also suit stereo pedal chains and studio setups.
BOSS models the tape path, motor behavior, playback system, preamp coloration, and spring-reverb response associated with the original Space Echo. Users can keep the dry signal analog or engage RE-201 preamp simulation, while an optional expression pedal provides continuous control over multiple effect parameters. The pedal runs from the included 9V battery or an optional BOSS PSA-series adapter.
Key Features
- Three-Head Space Echo Design: Recreates the multi-head architecture and rhythmic echo behavior associated with the Roland RE-201.
- 11 Echo Modes: Combines three virtual playback heads and spring reverb in multiple configurations for varied delay textures.
- Up to Two-Second Tap Delay: Long mode doubles the Repeat Rate range and extends playback-head-one tap delay to two seconds.
- Wow and Flutter Control: Adjusts simulated tape-speed instability for subtle movement or more pronounced modulation.
- Twist Performance Effect: Produces escalating, oscillating echo effects through the onboard pedal or compatible external control.
- True Stereo Operation: Dual inputs and outputs support mono or stereo instruments, effects chains, and recording systems.
- Selectable Dry-Signal Character: Choose an unchanged analog direct signal or modeled RE-201 preamp coloration.
- Expandable Control: Supports optional footswitches and expression pedals for tap tempo, Twist, and continuous parameter adjustment.
