The Cloud Microphones Cloudlifter CL-X2 is a two-channel transformer-coupled mic activator that gives passive ribbon and dynamic microphones the ultra-clean, transparent gain they need to shine. Using Cloud's acclaimed transformer-based circuitry, the CL-X2 delivers up to +25 dB of completely clean gain per channel - no coloration, no extra noise - so your preamp does not have to strain to reach a usable level with low-output mics.
Built around a custom transformer with selectable 12 dB and 36 dB gain options, the CL-X2 also subtly enhances the tone and presence of your microphone, adding the kind of musical character engineers love on ribbons and classic dynamics. It is fully phantom-powered (48V from your interface or console) and passes no phantom power on to the connected mic, keeping vintage and passive ribbon microphones safe.
Housed in a rugged, road-ready chassis with two independent channels of clean gain, the CL-X2 is the studio and stage workhorse for anyone running two passive mics at once - ideal for ribbon mic pairs, kick-and-snare setups, or dual broadcast positions.
