The Google Nest Cam (indoor, wired) 2nd generation, model GA01998-US in Snow, is a plug-in indoor security camera that streams 1080p HDR video at 30 frames per second through the Google Home app. Its 135-degree diagonal field of view covers a living room, front hallway, reception area, or small office from a shelf or wall, and the attached 10-foot power cable keeps it running around the clock with no batteries to recharge.

Built-in intelligence runs on the camera itself, so it can tell the difference between a person, an animal, and a vehicle and send the right alert without a subscription. Up to three hours of event video history is included at no charge, and a Google Home Premium plan extends that to 30 or 60 days of event history plus 10 days of continuous 24/7 recording. Night vision reaches up to 15 feet using two 850 nm infrared LEDs, and full-duplex two-way audio with noise cancellation lets you talk and listen through the camera's speaker and microphone.

Setup takes minutes over 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi with the Google Home app on an Android device, iPhone, or iPad. Video is protected with 128-bit AES encryption over TLS/SSL, secure boot, automatic security updates, and optional 2-step verification on the Google Account. This 2nd-generation model succeeds the original Nest Cam Indoor (NC1102EF) and ships with a 7.5 W USB-A power adapter, wall screws, anchors, and a cable clip. It is designed for indoor use only.
