The J44A 7 is JICO's take on the classic Shure M44-7, reproducing its powerful low end and smooth, balanced output so that battle-style mixing and scratching sound the way they should. Each cartridge arrives mounted, wired and screwed to the headshell in Japan, so setup is a matter of locking the collar and setting the tracking force.

At the heart of each assembly is the N-44-7 DJ IMP SD stylus, a synthetic diamond with a spherical SD tip on an aluminum tubular cantilever, a profile that rides the groove reliably during back-cueing and hard cuts. The cartridge delivers 8 mV of output at 1 kHz into a standard 47 kilohm load, enough drive for any DJ mixer phono input, and covers the full 20 Hz to 20 kHz range. Cartridge mass is 5.6 g with a 16 mm phono height, and the J44A 7 is a standard 1/2-inch mount so it also works with other headshells.

Choosing the black OMNIA headshell gives a stealthy, matched look across both turntables; the same set is also available on silver JICO headshells. When the needles eventually wear, the J44A 7 body accepts any JICO or Shure 44-series replacement stylus, from the budget SKRATCH 101-40 up to the N-44-7 nude models, so the investment in the cartridges lasts for years.
