JICO J-AAC0868 Clipper Hi-Fi Phono Cartridge with Headshell

Sculpted as a single piece of cartridge and headshell, the JICO Clipper rethinks the familiar 44-series moving magnet design for hi-fi listening. Its glossy black UVCRM resin body is molded with an ApexGlide finger lift and locks directly into a standard tonearm collar, so there is no separate headshell to align and no lead wires to fiddle with. The Clipper comes from the JICO Custom Shop in Japan, where every stylus is still finished by hand, and it ships complete with the CRCP/MK1 stylus installed.

That stylus is the reason the Clipper sounds the way it does: a solid natural diamond with a 0.12 mm conical tip, fitted to JICO's original tapered S-cantilever in aluminum. The tapered profile stiffens the cantilever without adding mass, giving clean transient response and a stable, relaxed presentation across the 20 Hz to 20 kHz band. Output is a strong 5.0 to 8.0 mV into a standard 47 kilohm load, so the Clipper drives any MM phono stage without extra gain, and the roughly 16.7 g total mass suits the medium-mass tonearms found on most modern and classic turntables.

Beyond its own CRCP/MK1 replacement stylus, the Clipper body is compatible with the entire Shure 44-series stylus family, including JICO's N44-7 and N44G DJ styli, ND nude diamond, SD synthetic diamond, MORITA wood-cantilever and SAS models, and even vintage Shure needles. One cartridge can therefore move between serious listening and DJ duty just by swapping the stylus, which makes the Clipper an unusually versatile centerpiece for a vinyl system.
