JICO J-AAC0895 Skratch 101-40 Replacement Styli, 2-Pack

$6999

Built for DJs who are learning to mix, scratch and beat juggle, the JICO SKRATCH 101-40 is the entry model of the N44 replacement stylus series, sold here as a two-pack so a spare is always on hand. Each stylus drops straight into any JICO or Shure 44-series moving magnet cartridge body, including the JICO J44A 7, J44D, J50, IMPACT, ALFA MODEL and Clipper as well as the discontinued Shure M44-7 and M44G. JICO hand-builds every stylus in Japan, continuing a craft that dates back to 1873.

Instead of a diamond, the SKRATCH 101-40 uses a natural solid ruby tip with a standard conical profile, which keeps the price down while still reproducing a broad, well-balanced frequency range on a battle turntable. The ruby is mounted on JICO's aluminum Type S cantilever and suspended on a damper rubber whose hardness has been optimized, a design JICO calls Calibrated Suspension. The result is improved tracking stability and a controllable feel under the hand, so back-cueing and aggressive cuts stay in the groove.

Because the stylus is meant to survive heavy scratch sessions, JICO sets the recommended tracking force higher than a hi-fi stylus, at 3.5 to 4.5 grams. Output is a healthy 5.0 to 8.0 mV with a 20 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response, matching the rest of the 44-series family. Keep one stylus on each deck or hold the second in reserve; either way this 2-pack is the most affordable route to a fresh, Japan-made needle for Shure 44-series cartridges.
