Juice Goose iP-1515-RX Rackmount Web Based Surge Protector and Power Controller
Introducing the iP 1515-RX: A Revolutionary Power Management and Surge Protection Solution
The iP 1515-RX is a cutting-edge device that combines microcontroller-based power management with Juice Goose RX Series' proven performance in surge protection and filtration. It provides power control to six AC receptacles, which are grouped into three individual Power Pods. Each of these Pods can be turned on and off individually.
REMOTE POWER CONTROL
The iP 1515-RX can be accessed via internet or intranet communications using Ethernet or RS232 connection, enabling individual AC receptacles to be turned on and off. Third-party programs can be used to schedule the iP 1515-RX to turn on and off at specific times. Its outlets can also be sequenced on and off if required for application in audio systems. This remote control can also be used to reboot DSPs or other processor-based electronics, as well as save energy costs by scheduling electronic equipment to turn off when not in use.
WEB SERVER AND TCP/IP CONTROL
All iP Series products have an onboard web server that provides a graphic user interface for controlling and monitoring equipment connected to the iP Series unit. This feature is available for remote use as soon as the IP address of the unit is entered in a web browser. It is also possible to control and monitor iP-1515-RX over Ethernet using raw TCP protocol. In this mode, any PC ( Windows, Linux, Mac ) can connect to the iP-1515-RX over a TCP/IP connection using a suitable TCP/IP client program.
RS232 CONTROL
The iP 1515-RX chassis has an RJ11-style connector on the back (labeled "RS232") that can be used for remote control of this unit via RS232 protocol over distances of no more than 50 feet.
LOCAL AND REMOTE MONITORING
The operation and status of the iP 1515-RX and connected equipment can be observed in several ways. Each of three lights on the front of the iP 1515-RX turn on to indicate which of the three Power Pods have been turned on. A "Network" LED indicates active data network communications and surge protection function or fault.
SNMP
Juice Goose developed an SNMP enabled subset of the iP Series products. Those models can be addressed with SNMP or RS232 protocol but lack some of the features of the standard iP Series models.
POWER CONDITIONING
The iP 1515-RX provides the best AC line protection and filtration across hot, neutral, and ground. RX power protection technology is particularly valuable because it works against common mode (ground) as well as normal mode (line to neutral) events. It protects against dramatic surge events of 6,000 volts at 3,000 amps on hot and neutral while limiting ground line surges to one-half (0.50) volt.
Furthermore, the unit reduces high frequency common and normal mode noise by up to 70 dB in a range up to 30 Mhz. Power protection circuitry in the iP 1515-RX includes a differential transformer, lots of filtering capacitance, and control circuitry providing protection from dangerous surges, high frequency interference, building wiring faults, and overvoltage.
FAILSAFE CONTROL
The iP 1515-RX has three levels of on and off control to provide fail-safe operation in the event of a system or network malfunction. It has a switch on the front of the chassis, which can be used to sequence on or off all switched outlets if there is a data network failure. If there is an internal processor fault, the Manual Override switch can turn the unit on as well.
