OM System M.Zuiko Digital 45mm f/1.8 Lens, Silver

Few Micro Four Thirds primes have earned a following like the 45mm f/1.8, and this silver version matches retro-styled bodies. Finished to match silver PEN and OM-D bodies, this 45mm f/1.8 gives a 90mm-equivalent field of view that flatters faces, compresses backgrounds slightly and keeps a comfortable working distance from your subject. It also suits events, concerts and street candids where you want to stay a little removed from the action.

Its f/1.8 maximum aperture lets you blur distracting surroundings and keep shutter speeds up in dim cafes, concerts and evening street scenes. Inside, 9 elements in 8 groups with two E-HR elements produce crisp detail, and a 7-blade circular diaphragm renders smooth, rounded bokeh. Compared with a kit zoom at its long end, the difference in background separation and low-light capability is immediately visible.

Focusing is handled by a fast, near-silent MSC autofocus system with an inner-focus screw drive, making the lens equally at home for stills and video. At 116 g and 46mm long with a 37mm filter thread, it is small enough to stay on the camera all day, and it focuses down to 0.5 m for tighter detail shots.
