Six hundred millimeters of reach that can be hand-held all day - that is the promise of the M.Zuiko Digital ED 300mm f/4 IS PRO. On a Micro Four Thirds body it frames like a 600mm super telephoto, yet at roughly one-third the size and weight of a typical 600mm DSLR lens it fits in a backpack and travels to places big glass rarely goes, making it a favorite of birders, wildlife photographers and sports shooters.

Stabilization is the headline. The lens carries its own VCM-driven image stabilizer that works in concert with in-body stabilization as 5-axis Sync IS, rated at up to 6 EV steps (up to 4 steps from the lens IS alone), so slow shutter speeds at extreme focal lengths become realistic without a tripod. The optical design of 17 elements in 10 groups, including three Super ED, one E-HR and three HR elements, controls color fringing and keeps fine feather and fur detail crisp.

Built for harsh conditions, the metal barrel is dustproof, splashproof to IP53 and freezeproof, with a built-in retractable lens hood, manual focus clutch and L-Fn button. A 1.4 m close-focus distance gives 0.48x 35mm-equivalent magnification for field macro work, and compatibility with the MC-14 and MC-20 teleconverters extends reach to 840mm or 1200mm equivalent.
