Inside, 18 elements in 13 groups - including two Super ED, four ED, one Super HR and one HR element - deliver high resolution from edge to edge, while the separately available MC-14 and MC-20 teleconverters push magnification as far as 4x (8x 35mm equivalent) with autofocus still active.
