Pirastro Evah Pirazzi Double Bass D String, Synthetic Core, 3/4 - Medium

Pirastro Evah Pirazzi Double Bass D String

The Pirastro Evah Pirazzi Double Bass D String combines a synthetic multifilament core with chrome steel winding for bowed and plucked playing. Choose Medium for standard orchestral tension or Light (Weich, Dolce) for reduced tension and easier playability. Both manufacturer-listed variants fit 3/4-size instruments and feature ball ends.

For bassists seeking a synthetic core replacement string, this design supports arco, or bowing, and pizzicato, or plucking. It suits players moving between orchestral repertoire and jazz bass lines. When choosing an upright bass D string, the two gauges let you prioritize either the standard feel or a lower-tension alternative.

Both options share their core construction, winding material, and tailpiece connection. Peg-end silk helps identify the selected version: rust red marks the standard gauge, while an added rose-colored marking identifies the lighter option. These details help players and instrument technicians match a replacement to an existing setup. Confirm your instrument size and preferred tension before installation.

Medium: Article 449220 carries 64.2 lb of string tension.
