Pirastro Oliv A Violin String, 4/4, Tube - 14

Pirastro Oliv Violin A String

The Pirastro Oliv Violin A String combines a sheep gut core, aluminum winding, and ball-end attachment for full-size instruments. This tube-packaged version comes in 13.25, 13.5, and 14 gauges. Each option retains the same construction while changing string thickness and tension, helping players select a replacement that matches their setup.

For a full-size violin replacement string, start with the gauge currently fitted to your instrument. The 13.25 option offers the lowest tension among these selections, while 14 provides the highest. Choose 13.5 for the A-string gauge used in Pirastro's standard medium Oliv set. These aluminum wound gut options let violinists compare tension without changing string materials or attachment type.

Pirastro makes the Oliv gut core by hand, then winds and polishes the string using traditional methods. All three selections fit 4/4 violins and use a ball end, the fitting that anchors the string at the tailpiece. Check the gauge and tailpiece compatibility before ordering a tube-packaged A replacement. The specifications below distinguish each available option and identify its corresponding manufacturer article number.
