Pirastro Tonica Violin D String, Silver-Wound, Medium - 4/4

Pirastro Tonica Violin D String

The Pirastro Tonica Violin D String pairs a nylon core with silver winding and a ball-end attachment. Choose from 4/4 or 1/4-1/8 sizes to match your instrument. Each option uses medium gauge, with a size-specific tension rating for full-size or fractional violins.

This silver-wound replacement D suits musicians preparing for lessons, ensemble rehearsals, and everyday practice. The synthetic core supports the Tonica family's rounded tonal character and responsive playing feel. Players seeking a full-size violin replacement string or a fractional-size D string can select the appropriate fit while retaining their preferred series.

The manufacturer's Mittel designation means medium gauge across both size groups. Instrument size and installed tension remain separate specifications: the full-size option carries 9.9 pounds of tension, compared with 7.9 pounds for 1/4-1/8. Both versions use a ball end and white/rust red tailpiece silk. Distinct peg-end colors and article numbers help identify the correct replacement before installation.
