This adapter is made for US civilian fixed wing aircraft: a 1/4 in TS plug goes into the aircraft jack, a 1/4 in TS jack accepts the headset, and an XLR3M carries the audio out. It is 6 ft with a 6 in pigtail.

The XLR3M leg delivers the tapped audio to a mixer or recorder, while the pass-through keeps the crew's headset connected to the intercom as normal.
