Cueing actors on set, feeding a director in a tow car, or listening at the cart without headphones all call for a small speaker that runs on batteries and takes whatever signal is handy. The SpeakEasy v4BT builds on the v3b with Bluetooth connectivity and a bi-amped design for higher fidelity, housed in a cast aluminum enclosure with a durable black finish.

Two rear combo jacks accept mic, line, or instrument level sources, with a mic trim that provides up to 40dB of gain, and the inputs are isolated so both can be used at once. Power comes from two 9V batteries or an external 9 to 18VDC source on a 2.1mm coaxial connector (center positive), with reverse polarity protection built in.

Idle drain is about 70mA (10mA when sleeping), so a pair of 9V batteries typically covers up to 8 hours of intermittent use without Bluetooth or about 4 hours with Bluetooth running. Bluetooth range typically exceeds 50 ft, which makes the v4BT useful for stage announce, remote radio and TV monitoring, or track playback hidden inside a piano.
