The Scherl & Roth SR72 is a hand-crafted intermediate viola built for advancing students, serious school-orchestra players, and educators who want a step-up instrument with genuine tonal depth and projection. Each SR72 is made from fully solid tonewoods - a hand-carved spruce top paired with well-flamed maple back and sides - and finished with a warm, hand-applied red-brown oil varnish and hand-inlaid purfling. This listing is for the SR72 in its "Not Set Up" form - the bare carved instrument supplied without final shop adjustment. It ships with ebony pegs, a select French maple bridge, and a composite tailpiece, but it does not include installed strings, a fitted soundpost adjustment, a bow, a case, or rosin. It is intended for luthiers, dealers, and school repair shops that prefer to perform their own professional setup - fitting the bridge, adjusting the soundpost, dressing the fingerboard, and stringing the instrument to their own specification before it reaches the player. For a fully play-ready package with case, bow, rosin, and a professional workshop setup, choose the SR72 "Set Up" outfit instead.
