The Scherl & Roth SR85 Stradivari is a professional-level 4/4 cello built for advancing students, conservatory players, and serious orchestral musicians who have outgrown intermediate instruments. Modeled after the celebrated Stradivarius pattern, it pairs a hand-carved solid spruce top with well-flamed maple back and sides, then finishes the body in a hand-applied amber/red-brown oil varnish that deepens tone and gives each instrument a warm, traditional appearance. The result is a rich, resonant, and projecting voice with the clarity and responsiveness expected at the advanced tier.
Every SR85 cello is hand-adjusted in the Scherl & Roth USA workshop and arrives fully set up and play-ready, so educators and players can perform straight out of the case with no trip to the luthier. The instrument is fitted with an ebony fingerboard and ebony pegs, a select French maple bridge, and a composite tailpiece, and it is strung with premium Larsen A and D and Spirocore G and C strings for a balanced, focused sound across the entire range.
