The Seymour Duncan Duff McKagan Signature PJ Bass Pickup Set captures the sound that defined the hard-hitting low end of Guns N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver, and Duff’s other iconic projects. Based on the pickups in Duff’s legendary Fender® Jazz Bass® Special, this set combines the punch of a Precision® split-coil with the bite and clarity of a hum-canceling Jazz bridge pickup for a tone that’s tight, powerful, and unmistakably Duff.
Originally, Duff’s custom bass featured a Seymour Duncan Hot Stack Jazz Bass® pickup paired with a Precision® split-coil, giving him noise-free operation and aggressive output. Later, he discovered the Quarter Pound P-Bass® pickup with its oversized alnico 5 magnets and high-output coils, which added more grit and attack. Together, these two pickups define his signature tone—deep, articulate, and perfectly suited for rock, punk, and metal.
Each set proudly features Duff’s skull & crossbones logo and is handcrafted in Santa Barbara, California. Whether on stage or in the studio, this PJ set delivers the same raw energy and precision that has powered some of rock’s most recognizable bass lines.
