Slash is known for some of the most iconic riffs, licks, and solos in rock n’ roll. To recreate the ferocious tones heard with Guns N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver, and his solo projects, Slash worked closely with Seymour Duncan to design his signature APH-2 pickups. This neck-position Slash Signature humbucker is voiced to push a stock Les Paul toward that familiar sustain, crunch, and midrange that defined his original “Appetite” Derrig Les Paul copy.
Using a different magnet wire and winding spec around a sweet-sounding Alnico 2 bar magnet, this pickup delivers the warm, musical response Slash relies on, with singing sustain and a rich, expressive midrange. It’s hand built in Santa Barbara, USA, the same way Seymour Duncan crafted Slash’s original humbuckers, and it’s the exact same model that Slash’s tech installs in his own guitars.
Modern Features, Classic Slash Voice
Historically, Slash’s pickups were only available in vintage-style formats with long mounting legs and single-conductor braided cable. This version brings that same signature voice into a more flexible, modern package. Short Ear (SE) mounting legs allow the pickup to fit a wider variety of guitars and direct-mount applications, while the 4-conductor cable opens up options for coil splitting, series/parallel wiring, and phase switching.
