The SpeakerCraft AIM272-MK3 is a 7-inch 2-way flangeless in-ceiling speaker from the legendary AIM Mk 3 family, re-voiced to support modern distributed audio and object-based surround formats such as Dolby Atmos, Auro-3D, and DTS:X. It combines a pivoting 7-inch glass-fiber woofer with a four-element silk-dome ARC Tweeter Array to deliver wide, immersive, high-fidelity sound throughout the listening area.
Inspired by concert line arrays, the ARC Tweeter Array orients four 5/8-inch silk tweeters along a pivoting arc, fed in phase to project high frequencies farther into the room with a tightly defined output pattern. This enhances speech intelligibility, tightens the soundstage, and lets integrators aim sound precisely at the listening area. WavePlane technology acts as an acoustic lens for cleaner, wider high-frequency dispersion, so the speaker sounds its best even when you are not directly beneath it.
A refined crossover using symmetrical and asymmetrical Linkwitz-Riley filtering improves phase coherence and driver blending, while Vortex Eliminators and Acoustic Isolation Technology decouple the housing from the ceiling to reduce structural resonance for a cleaner, more repeatable install. Timbre-matched to the rest of the Two Level series, it is an ideal choice for whole-home audio and home theater side, rear, or height channels.
