The SpeakerCraft AIM285-MK3 is the legend, revoiced. This flagship 8-inch, two-way in-ceiling speaker updates one of the most respected architectural loudspeakers ever made with modern voicing tuned for high-performance distributed audio and advanced object-based surround formats such as Dolby Atmos, Auro-3D, and DTS:X. A flangeless bezel and paintable grille let it disappear into any ceiling while delivering reference-grade sound.
Its defining feature is the AIM (ARC) Tweeter Array: multiple Aluminum/Magnesium tweeters arranged along a pivoting arc and fed in phase, projecting high frequencies farther and more precisely into the listening area than a conventional single-tweeter design. This narrowed, directable pattern dramatically improves speech intelligibility and lets integrators aim the soundfield exactly where it is needed, while WavePlane technology acts as an acoustic lens for cleaner, wider, richer highs. The pivoting Kevlar woofer adds stiffness and light weight for fast, articulate low-end and dynamics.
A refined crossover using symmetrical and asymmetrical Linkwitz-Riley filtering improves phase coherence and driver blending for smoother response and higher power handling, while Acoustic Isolation Technology decouples the housing from surrounding materials to eliminate structural resonance. Timbre-matched to all FIVE Level speakers, with a deep 33Hz to 20kHz frequency response and 175-watt power handling, the AIM285-MK3 is backed by a 5-year warranty.
