The SpeakerCraft SC3-IC8-DT is an 8-inch premium toolless in-ceiling speaker from the Nice SC3 series, an evolution of SpeakerCraft, the inventor of the architectural speaker. It pairs a black Kevlar woofer with a dual voice coil and dual pivoting 1-1/4-inch aluminum/magnesium AccuAim tweeters to deliver crisp, dynamic, room-filling sound for whole-home audio, media rooms, and dedicated home theaters.
Kevlar is thin, stiff, and lightweight for excellent transient response, while the aluminum/magnesium tweeters add rigidity and superior damping for detailed highs. A copper shorting ring (Faraday shield) lowers distortion and keeps impedance consistent across the frequency range, and an asymmetrical 3rd-order crossover blends the drivers seamlessly. A three-position tweeter level switch and two-position voice switch let you fine-tune the high frequencies and vocal focus to taste.
Proprietary AccuAim technology lets the tweeters click-lock into a repeatable angle to pinpoint the sweet spot, and XmaG extended pole pieces keep the magnetic field linear for lower distortion at all levels. The ViseLock toolless mounting system, designed by Swarm, installs up to 75% faster with spring-loaded doglegs, while the rigid metal frame and paintable, bezelless stainless-steel round grille resist rust and minimize transmission loss through the ceiling.
