TASCAM TH-MX2 Closed-Back Studio Mixing Headphones

The TASCAM TH-MX2 Closed-Back Studio Mixing Headphones are wired, over-ear monitoring headphones designed for recording, mixing, and everyday audio listening. Featuring 1.6-inch neodymium dynamic drivers, a stainless steel frame, and cushioned earcups, these headphones deliver full-range audio reproduction while providing passive sound isolation for studio monitoring and music production.

Designed for musicians, recording engineers, content creators, and home studio users, the TH-MX2 combines practical monitoring features with a comfortable, lightweight construction. Its closed-back earcups help reduce ambient noise and limit sound leakage during recording sessions, making it useful for monitoring vocals, instruments, and playback tracks. The adjustable stainless steel headband provides a secure fit, while padded ear cushions distribute pressure around the ears. A permanently attached 9.8-foot audio cable provides additional freedom of movement around mixing consoles, recording interfaces, and other studio equipment.

With a 32-ohm impedance, 95 dB sensitivity, and a frequency response extending from 15 Hz to 22 kHz, the TH-MX2 supports detailed listening across a broad audio spectrum. Its standard 1/8-inch stereo connector accommodates compatible computers, portable audio players, and recording equipment. An included screw-on 1/4-inch adapter expands connectivity to professional audio interfaces, headphone amplifiers, and mixing consoles. The headphones also include a black leatherette carrying bag for convenient storage and transportation.

Key Features

Closed-Back Monitoring for Recording and Mixing

The TH-MX2 features a circumaural design, meaning its earcups surround the ears rather than resting directly against them. This arrangement helps create a physical barrier between the listener and surrounding environmental noise.

Closed-back construction is particularly useful during recording sessions when microphone pickup of headphone playback must be minimized. Musicians and vocalists can monitor backing tracks while reducing unwanted sound leakage into nearby microphones.

The headphones also support music editing, playback evaluation, instrument practice, and everyday listening. Their passive isolation requires no batteries or electronic noise-canceling circuitry.

Neodymium Dynamic Driver Performance

Each earcup houses a 1.6-inch dynamic driver incorporating a neodymium magnet. This driver design converts electrical audio signals into sound through a moving diaphragm driven by a magnetic assembly.

The specified 15 Hz to 22 kHz frequency response provides extended low-frequency and high-frequency reproduction. A 95 dB sensitivity rating and 32-ohm impedance support use with a range of compatible headphone outputs.

With a maximum power handling capacity of 400 mW, the TH-MX2 is designed to accommodate suitable monitoring signals from professional and personal audio equipment.

Comfortable Construction for Extended Studio Sessions

The TH-MX2 combines an adjustable stainless steel frame with padded earcups and a cushioned headband. This construction provides structural support while helping distribute pressure during prolonged listening.

The oval earcup design surrounds the ears, creating a comfortable monitoring arrangement for musicians, producers, and audio engineers working through recording or editing sessions.

Its black exterior provides a traditional studio appearance suitable for professional recording facilities, home studios, and mobile production setups.

Wired Connectivity and Studio Equipment Compatibility

The integrated 9.8-foot cable terminates in a standard 1/8-inch stereo connector for use with compatible headphone outputs. The extended cable length provides flexibility when working at recording desks or moving between nearby studio equipment.

An included screw-on 1/4-inch adapter allows the headphones to connect to professional mixing consoles, audio interfaces, headphone distribution amplifiers, and other equipment equipped with compatible headphone jacks.

The wired connection eliminates the need for batteries, wireless pairing, or charging while providing a direct analog monitoring signal.
