The Thypoch Simera 50mm f/1.4 is a fast, all-metal manual focus prime built for full-frame photographers who want a classic standard lens with genuinely modern glass behind it. Its 8-element, 6-group optical design packs in one aspherical element, one extra-low dispersion (ED) element, and three high-refractive-index (HRI) elements, a formula aimed squarely at controlling the chromatic aberration, field curvature, and distortion that plague inexpensive fast fifties. The result is a lens that stays crisp and clean across the frame while keeping the compact, jewel-like footprint of a traditional rangefinder optic.

Wide open at f/1.4, the Simera 50mm is a low-light and shallow-depth-of-field tool: Thypoch rates its light transmission at up to T1.5, so you can keep ISO down and shutter speeds up at indoor events, in dim interiors, or after dark on the street. The 14-blade rounded diaphragm is the star of the show, holding a near-circular opening as you stop down and rendering out-of-focus highlights as smooth, round bokeh rather than the polygonal shapes typical of 7- or 9-blade lenses. A click/de-click switch on the aperture ring lets stills shooters keep tactile stops and video shooters pull silent, stepless exposure ramps with the same lens.

The Simera 50mm focuses down to 0.45m (about 1.5 feet) for a 1:6.4 maximum magnification, meaningfully closer than the 0.7m limit of most classic standard lenses, with floating elements preserving sharpness at close range. On the Leica M version, rangefinder coupling runs to a tactile stop at 0.7m; focusing closer than that is done on live view or an EVF. The Nikon Z version is a native Z-mount design that focuses to 0.45m throughout on the camera's electronic finder. Both mounts share the same optics, the same 49mm filter thread, and a machined metal barrel with a removable hood, available in black or silver.
