Description
The Thypoch Simera-C 35mm T1.5 is a compact full-frame cinema prime built for the new generation of small cine cameras, gimbals and mirrorless rigs. Where traditional cinema glass forces you into heavy rigs and oversized matte boxes, the Simera-C 35mm packs a fast T1.5 aperture, a 9-element/5-group optical design and a full 43.2mm image circle into a body that measures just 59.8mm long and 381g in Leica M mount (69.6mm and roughly 402-405g in the native Sony E version). It is a true cine lens - 210-degree focus rotation, standard 0.8 MOD focus and iris gears, a fully mechanical manual-focus barrel with no electronic contacts - in a package small enough to live on a gimbal, a drone or a run-and-gun shoulder rig all day.
Optically the Simera-C 35mm blends the rendering of a classic rangefinder prime with modern cinema correction. Aspherical, low-dispersion and high-refractive-index elements support 8K-resolution production with clean chromatic aberration control from center to edge, while a 16-blade rounded iris - two more blades than Thypoch's Simera photo series - produces exceptionally smooth, circular bokeh and soft round out-of-focus highlights. A multi-layer anti-reflective coating keeps flare and ghosting in check for accurate color and deep contrast even in hard backlight, and a floating element design pulls the close focus in to 0.45m (1 ft 6 in) for detail work most rehoused rangefinder lenses simply cannot reach. Focus and depth-of-field scales are marked in both feet and meters.
The 35mm is the workhorse focal length of the Simera-C set - wide enough for interiors, dialogue two-shots and documentary coverage, tight enough for clean portraits and product inserts - and it matches the rest of the series in front diameter, gear position and color rendering for fast, no-recalibration lens swaps. Available in native Sony E and Leica M mounts, with the M version adapting to RF, Z, L and X mirrorless bodies (and to ARRI ALEXA Mini LF, ALEXA Mini and AMIRA via a locking M-ARRI adapter), it is one of the very few full-frame cine primes light and short enough to work comfortably on the DJI Ronin 4D. An aluminum-alloy barrel with dust- and splash-resistant construction keeps it working on location. A serious, affordable choice for filmmakers, solo operators and small crews who need cinema-grade image quality without cinema-grade bulk.
Features
- Fast T1.5 maximum aperture (T1.5 to T16) for low-light shooting and shallow depth of field on full-frame cinema and mirrorless cameras
- 16-blade rounded iris renders exceptionally smooth, circular bokeh and soft round out-of-focus highlights
- 9 elements in 5 groups with aspherical, low-dispersion and high-refractive-index glass supporting 8K-resolution production with strong chromatic aberration control
- Floating element design delivers a 0.45m (1'6") close focus - closer than most rehoused or modified rangefinder primes
- True cine barrel: 210-degree focus rotation with 0.8 MOD standard focus and iris gears for follow focus and motor systems
- Ultra-compact aluminum-alloy body: 59.8mm long and 381g in Leica M mount, 69.6mm and approx. 402-405g in Sony E - light enough for gimbal, drone and handheld work, including the DJI Ronin 4D
- 43.2mm maximum image circle covers full-frame sensors and is fully compatible with Super 35 and APS-C formats
- Multi-layer anti-reflective coating suppresses flare and ghosting for clean contrast in backlit and mixed-light scenes
- Fully mechanical manual-focus design with no electronic contacts or data protocol, and clearly marked distance and depth-of-field scales in feet and meters
- Dust- and splash-resistant all-metal construction for reliable performance on location
- Consistent front diameter and gear placement across the Simera-C series for fast lens changes without re-rigging
- Available in native Sony E and Leica M mounts; the M version adapts to RF, Z, L and X mirrorless bodies and to ARRI ALEXA Mini LF / ALEXA Mini / AMIRA with a locking M-ARRI adapter
- Includes back-focus adjustment shims, bayonet mount screws and a screwdriver for precise flange-depth calibration
