TOA L-01F 600-Ohm Balanced Line Matching Input Module for 900 Series

The TOA L-01F is a plug-in line matching input module that gives a TOA 900 Series mixer/amplifier a true 600-ohm, transformer-isolated balanced line input terminated on a female XLR connector. Transformer isolation is what sets this module apart from an ordinary line input: it galvanically separates the source from the amplifier, breaking ground loops and rejecting the common-mode hum that long cable runs pick up in a commercial building. Where a background music source, a telephone paging interface, an assistive listening transmitter or a legacy broadcast feed expects to see a 600-ohm load, the L-01F provides the correct matching impedance instead of forcing the source into a mismatch.

The module drops into any of the eight input ports on TOA's 900 Series hosts, including the A-903MK2, A-906MK2 and A-912MK2 mixer power amplifiers and the M-900MK2 mixer preamplifier, as well as the six ports on the W-906A and W-912A in-wall mixer power amplifiers. It is equally at home in the two dedicated 900 Series module slots built into TOA's 800D Series digital mixer amplifiers (A-812D, A-824D and A-848D), and in the 9000M2 Series amplifiers, which TOA specifies as accepting existing 900 Series input modules alongside newer 9000 Series cards. Installation is a front-panel swap: pull the blank, seat the L-01F, and the port becomes a balanced 600-ohm line input.

Electrically the L-01F is deliberately simple and clean. Rated input sensitivity is -18 dB for the amplifier's -20 dB rated output, and frequency response runs 20 Hz to 20 kHz within ±1.5 dB, so program material passes through without coloration. Because the input is transformer-isolated rather than electronically balanced, the L-01F is the module to reach for in retrofit and mixed-vintage systems, in buildings with noisy electrical services, and any time a line source has to travel a long distance to the rack. It is a standard specification item for schools, houses of worship, airports, hospitals, factories and retail paging systems built around the TOA 900 Series platform.
