Description
The TOA M-01F is the workhorse microphone preamplifier module of the 900 Series family. It converts one input port of a TOA mixer/amplifier into a fully featured mic channel: a transformer-balanced 600-ohm input on a female XLR jack, 32 to 52 dB of adjustable gain, switchable +22 V phantom power for condenser microphones, and low- and high-cut tone controls for taming room rumble and sibilance at the source. Because everything happens on the module, the channel is trimmed with a screwdriver during commissioning and then left alone, which is exactly what installed paging and background music systems need.
Compatibility is broad across the TOA line. The M-01F seats in any of the eight input ports of the A-903MK2, A-906MK2 and A-912MK2 mixer power amplifiers and the M-900MK2 mixer preamplifier, in the W-906A and W-912A in-wall mixer power amplifiers, and in the two dedicated 900 Series module slots on the 800D Series digital mixer amplifiers A-812D, A-824D and A-848D. TOA's 9000M2 Series amplifiers also accept existing 900 Series input modules, so an M-01F carries forward into newer racks rather than being stranded with the frame it was bought for. The module draws its 24 V DC operating power from the host main frame, so there is nothing to wire beyond the microphone cable.
Performance is quiet enough for critical announcement duty: distortion is 0.05 percent or less at 1 kHz, noise sits at -86 dB with an input-equivalent noise figure of -126 dB, and response spans 25 Hz to 20 kHz. The female XLR jack accepts a standard microphone cable directly, which makes the M-01F the default choice for lectern, paging, gooseneck and handheld microphone inputs in schools, houses of worship, transit terminals, hospitals and industrial plants running the TOA 900 Series platform. If you need the same channel with a male XLR, specify the M-01M; if you need built-in level compression, specify the M-61F.
