Description
Some installations need the microphone preamp to present a male XLR rather than a female one - a tie-line panel wired the other way round, a wall plate feeding the rack, a fixed gooseneck assembly with a female cable end, or an existing loom that nobody wants to re-pin. The TOA M-01M answers that requirement. It is the male-connector counterpart to TOA's standard 900 Series mic preamplifier module, delivering the same transformer-balanced 600-ohm front end, the same switchable +22 V phantom supply for condenser capsules, and the same low- and high-cut tone shaping, all terminated on a male XLR (XLR-3-32 equivalent) jack.
The M-01M gives the installer more setup range than the female version: input sensitivity is rated at -60 dB for -20 dB output but is adjustable across -72 to -52 dB, with 32 to 52 dB of gain on tap. That headroom makes it straightforward to level-match a hot dynamic handheld and a quiet lavalier on adjacent channels of the same amplifier. Response covers 25 Hz to 20 kHz within 2 dB, distortion stays at or below 0.05 percent at 1 kHz, and input-equivalent noise is specified at -126 dB, so the channel stays clean at high gain.
Like the rest of the 900 Series module range, the M-01M is powered from the host frame's 24 V DC rail and installs from the front panel. It fits the eight input ports of the A-903MK2, A-906MK2 and A-912MK2 mixer power amplifiers and the M-900MK2 mixer preamplifier, the W-906A and W-912A in-wall mixer power amplifiers, the pair of 900 Series module slots on the 800D Series digital mixer amplifiers A-812D, A-824D and A-848D, and TOA's 9000M2 Series amplifiers, which are specified to accept existing 900 Series input modules. Order the M-01F instead if the channel needs a female XLR jack.
