The Wittner Peg Shaper shapes Ultra composite and wooden violin and viola peg shafts for fitting. Interchangeable bushings provide four diameter options and three taper ratios, while an adjustable blade controls shaving thickness. This workshop tool helps instrument makers prepare compatible pegs to match the taper required by the instrument's peg holes.

For violin peg replacement and viola setup work, the bushing system lets a technician select the appropriate shaft diameter and taper combination. Two blade adjusters help set the cutting position, including corrections when material removal differs across the blade. A removable peg handle assists handling during shaping and also serves to exchange the bushings.

Made in Germany, the tool supports the manufacturer's Ultra pegs and conventional wooden pegs. Its serviceable blade can be repositioned or replaced according to Wittner's instructions, supporting ongoing workshop use. Select the bushing to match the fitting requirements, then follow the manufacturer's procedure for blade adjustment and peg preparation. Finetune geared pegs require a different fitting approach and cannot be shaped with this tool.
