Description
Yamaha DM5C 48-Channel Dante Digital Mixing Console
The Yamaha DM5C 48-channel digital mixing console brings professional 96 kHz audio processing, Dante networking, extensive routing, and hands-on touchscreen control into a compact single-bay format. It combines 48 mono input channels with 24 Mix buses, 12 Matrix buses, two Stereo buses, and 12 DCA groups for demanding live and installed audio systems.
Designed for live sound, corporate events, theaters, broadcast facilities, houses of worship, and production environments, the DM5C gives engineers substantial mixing capacity without requiring a full-size console footprint. Sixteen analog inputs and 16 analog outputs handle local connections, while integrated 64 x 64 Dante networking supports larger distributed audio systems. An 18 x 18 USB audio interface also enables direct computer recording and playback workflows.
The DM5C carries forward the workflow and operating concepts of Yamaha's DM7 series with a 13.3" multitouch main display, a separate 4.3" multitouch screen, 13 motorized faders, and context-sensitive Glass Keys. Yamaha's Assist functions help streamline head-amp setup, channel naming, compression, and fader balancing, while extensive onboard processing, recording tools, remote-control software, and a PY expansion slot make the console adaptable to professional systems.
Key Features
- 48-Channel Digital Mixing: Handles up to 48 mono input channels for complex live sound, broadcast, theater, and corporate productions.
- Flexible Bus Architecture: Provides 24 Mix buses, 12 Matrix buses, two Stereo buses, and 12 DCA groups for detailed routing and control.
- 64 x 64 Dante Networking: Integrates up to 64 Dante input and output channels for networked stage boxes, processors, and distributed audio systems.
- Dual Multitouch Displays: Combines a 13.3" adjustable main touchscreen with a 4.3" secondary display for fast access to mixing functions and Glass Keys.
- 13 Motorized Faders: Uses 12 channel faders plus a master fader to provide tactile control from a compact single-bay surface.
- Integrated USB Audio: Supports up to 18 input and 18 output channels for computer-based recording, playback, and production workflows.
- Professional Onboard Processing: Includes multiple EQ and dynamics models plus a 43-type multieffects processor with reverb, delay, modulation, saturation, and dynamics effects.
- PY Expansion Slot: Accepts compatible Yamaha PY cards for additional Dante, MADI, AES/EBU, MIDI/GPI, SoundGrid, or DSP functionality depending on the installed card.
Compact Control Surface with Dual Touchscreens
The DM5C places a 13.3" multitouch display above its single fader bay and adds a dedicated 4.3" multitouch screen for additional controls. The main display offers four tilt positions to improve visibility for seated or standing engineers and to help minimize glare in changing production environments.
Glass Keys and Assist Functions
Six context-sensitive Glass Keys use the secondary display to provide dynamically changing control labels while retaining the tactile response of physical controls. HA Assist can suggest head-amplifier gain settings, while Naming Assist, Comp Assist, and Fader Assist help accelerate common setup and mixing tasks.
Dante, USB, and Professional Recording Workflows
Integrated Dante provides up to 64 input and 64 output channels for networked audio at 96 kHz. The console also includes an 18-channel USB audio interface and supports two-track USB recording and playback. Dante can be used for multitrack recording of up to 64 channels, while the included Nuendo Live software supports recording and Virtual Sound Check workflows.
Comprehensive Channel Processing and Effects
Channel processing includes four EQ types with real-time analysis plus multiple dynamics options such as FET Limiter, Diode Bridge Comp, Comp 260, Legacy Comp, Gate, De-Esser, Expander, and Ducking. The onboard multieffects processor provides 43 effect types, including 13 reverbs and eight delays, along with modulation, saturation, amplifier simulation, and multiband compression.
Remote Control and System Expansion
The DM5C supports Yamaha DM Editor for computer-based preparation and control, DM StageMix for compatible iPad operation, MonitorMix for personal monitor control, and ProVisionaire Control Plus for integrated system operation. DAW Remote functionality further supports production workflows, while compatible DM5 and DM7 console files simplify movement between systems.
