Designed for electronic drummers who want to hear their instruments through external speakers, the MS45DR delivers 60W of combined rated amplifier output through its three-speaker configuration. The two-way satellite speakers reproduce midrange and high-frequency sounds, while the dedicated 6.5-inch subwoofer handles bass drum and floor tom frequencies. This arrangement provides separate left and right channels for stereo drum monitoring. Musicians can use the system for individual practice, drum lessons, and playing alongside other performers in home environments. The MS45DR uses a stereo satellite arrangement supported by a dedicated low-frequency speaker. This configuration allows electronic drum modules to reproduce their programmed stereo positions through separate left and right speakers.

Each satellite speaker receives 20W of amplifier power and contains two speaker drivers. A 3-inch cone driver reproduces midrange percussion sounds, while a 0.8-inch dome tweeter handles higher frequencies associated with cymbals and other percussion instruments.

The powered subwoofer uses a 6.5-inch cone driver rated at 20W. Its dedicated low-frequency output helps reproduce kick drum impact and the lower frequencies of electronic tom sounds.

Compact Satellite Speakers with Adjustable Drum Rack Mounting

The Yamaha MS45DR satellite speakers are designed to attach directly to compatible electronic drum racks. Each speaker includes a mounting arm that connects to the supplied pipe clamp.

The clamps accommodate straight vertical rack pipes with a diameter of 1.5 inches. Adjustable mounting hardware allows users to direct the speakers toward their preferred listening position.

The satellite speakers measure approximately 4.3 inches wide, 7.2 inches high, and 5.4 inches deep, excluding their mounting holders. Their compact dimensions help preserve space around the electronic drum kit.

Compatibility depends on the drum rack's pipe diameter and shape. The included clamps are not designed for curved pipes or racks using different pipe diameters.

Dedicated Subwoofer for Kick Drum and Low-Frequency Percussion

The MS45DR includes a powered subwoofer designed to reproduce low-frequency sounds generated by electronic drum modules. Its 6.5-inch cone speaker operates with a dedicated 20W amplifier rated at 60 Hz into 8 ohms.

A front-mounted bass volume control allows players to adjust low-frequency output independently of the overall speaker level. This provides additional flexibility when balancing kick drum sounds against cymbals and other percussion instruments.

The subwoofer measures approximately 8.7 inches wide, 13.8 inches high, and 13.5 inches deep. It is designed for placement on a stable floor surface near the electronic drum kit.

Simple Volume Controls and Electronic Drum Connectivity

The monitor system includes straightforward controls for adjusting listening levels without requiring an external audio mixer.

A master volume control on the rear of the subwoofer adjusts overall speaker output. A separate bass volume control on the front panel changes the subwoofer's level, allowing drummers to increase or decrease low-frequency reproduction.

The included combination cable connects the subwoofer, satellite speakers, and a compatible electronic drum sound module. It incorporates an 8-pin Mini DIN connection alongside phone and RCA connectors for distributing audio between the system components.

Electronic drum modules equipped with separate left and right audio outputs can connect through the appropriate cable connections. Modules with a single stereo output, including the Yamaha DTX402 series, require a separately available Y cable for the specified connection arrangement.
