The Yamaha RUio16FLX-D is a 1U professional Dante I/O rack with 16 flexible channels that can be assigned in two-channel pairs as analog microphone/line inputs, analog outputs, or AES/EBU digital outputs. Integrated 16-channel Dante transmit and receive capability makes it a versatile expansion interface for Yamaha digital mixers, processors, and networked professional audio systems.

Designed for live sound, theaters, broadcast, houses of worship, corporate AV, and scalable installations, the RUio16FLX-D lets system designers determine the required I/O configuration during installation or adapt it as needs change. Up to three connection types can coexist within the same 16-channel configuration, allowing analog inputs, analog outputs, and AES/EBU outputs to share one compact rack unit.

A built-in mini-LCD provides direct access to Dante and I/O parameters without requiring a computer or mixing console. The Port Config menu simplifies channel assignment, while local gain and phantom-power control supports microphone workflows. Primary and Secondary Dante connectivity, a dedicated control-network port, R Remote compatibility, and integration with compatible Yamaha mixers and processors make the RUio16FLX-D suitable for distributed professional audio infrastructure.

Flexible 16-Channel Analog and Digital I/O

The RUio16FLX-D differs from fixed-configuration stage boxes by allowing each two-channel pair to be assigned according to the system's needs. Engineers can allocate channels between analog microphone or line inputs, analog outputs, and AES/EBU digital outputs instead of committing the entire unit to a single connection type.

Port Config for Fast I/O Assignment

Yamaha's Port Config menu is accessible directly from the front-panel display, allowing the flexible I/O arrangement to be changed at the rack. This makes the RUio16FLX-D particularly useful for systems that evolve over time or installations where final input and output requirements may change after initial deployment.

16x16 Dante Network Audio

Primary and Secondary etherCON ports provide 16 Dante transmit and 16 receive channels using 24-bit or 32-bit audio data. The Gigabit network interface supports redundant Dante system designs, while CAT5e or higher network cabling provides the physical connection to compatible mixers, processors, and other Dante-enabled equipment.

Professional Mic and Line Input Performance

When configured for analog input, the RUio16FLX-D provides balanced 3.5mm-pitch Euroblock connections with a 10 kΩ input impedance. Gain ranges from 0 to +64 dB, supporting 50–600 Ω microphones and 600 Ω line sources. Individually software-controlled +48 V phantom power supports compatible condenser microphones.

Analog and AES/EBU Output Flexibility

Analog output channels provide a +4 dBu nominal level with up to +24 dBu before clipping. Channels assigned to AES/EBU deliver professional 24-bit RS-422 digital audio through balanced Euroblock connections, allowing the same rack to serve both analog and digital destinations within a single system.

Local and Remote Professional Control

The front-panel mini-LCD lets operators check Dante and input/output parameters without connecting an external control device. When integrated with compatible Yamaha digital mixers, supported head-amplifier parameters can be controlled remotely. R Remote provides another control option, while ProVisionaire Design supports parameter management in compatible processor-based installations.

Low-Latency Networked Audio Performance

Yamaha specifies signal delay below 1.7 ms at 96 kHz and 2.0 ms at 48 kHz under its stated Dante test configuration. This performance makes the RUio16FLX-D appropriate for real-time sound reinforcement and monitoring systems where network flexibility must be paired with predictable audio latency.
